I am a creative professional, with over 20 years of experience in digital and print design, I have a track record of leading, mentoring and inspiring creative professionals for design excellence. My innate ability to think imaginatively, express creative vision and link strategies to marketing execution allows me to perform calmly under pressure. I have been responsible for, but not limited to, print and web creative for strategic campaigns, branding and identity, video production, UI/UX and a wide array of corporate collateral. My experience working within corporate marketing has prepared me with a well-rounded business acumen that allows me to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Senior Graphic Designer  (on Contract with Creatis/SketchDeck) 2020 - Present

Provided creative support while the company was in need. During my time at Kaplan, I worked on a variety of projects including promotional emails, static and animated web banners, presentations, and catalog covers. I was the lead designer on two new product initiatives and won an inhouse graphic design award from GDUSA for my work on an infographic.

Creative Director and UI/UX Designer: Digiliti Money 2014 - 2018

Hired by the Chief Marketing Officer to manage the creative workflow of the company, provide UI/UX wireframes for custom mobile solutions and support their growing financial services client base with custom marketing. Responsible for the design of all company collateral; including presentations, product sheets, postcards, print ads, digital marketing, infographics, product videos, trade show graphics and website. Collaborated with client, development and product teams to determine functionality and create UI/UX design mockups, wireframes and prototypes for client branded mobile apps and web portals. Managed the design and re-launch of the company website. Working with an external vendor, I provided UI creative support and managed the project with internal and external stakeholders. The website launched on time and on budget. It produced a substantial increase in viable leads and traffic in the first six months of launching, with a more than 50 percent increase in page views. Completed a refresh of the company brand in 2014, including the introduction of an expanded color palette, new brand guidelines and a redesign of all company collateral. More recently, managed a second rebrand in conjunction with the new company name, logo and messaging. All business systems, website, signage and sales collateral were adjusted to meet new branding specs on a tight deadline and on-time. Collaborated with the account management team to create and deliver marketing campaigns that successfully launched new clients. Reduced company print costs by over 50 percent by sourcing and switching vendors.

Graphic Designer/Communications: Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) 2013

Worked for the chief of communications to manage the creative design, web maintenance and marketing support for Minneapolis Public Schools.

  • Designed a variety of communication pieces, including brochures, posters, ads, catalogs and fliers.
  • Created new UI/UX for the MPS website and oversaw the development of the MPS smartphone app.
  • Maintained and updated district and department websites.
  • Designed and coordinated several weekly and biweekly e-newsletters.
  • Participated in the design and marketing of the district’s “Shift” campaign, a public effort to gain support for the district’s reform initiatives.
  • Director of Creative Services and Marketing: Navarre Corporation 2006-2013

    Recruited by vice president of sales and marketing to lead creative services and marketing department of 10 employees comprised of four designers and six marketing managers and support personnel. Managed marketing operations, formalized processes, increased marketing profits and managed corporate events. •Managed marketing budget of over $2 million while consistently surpassing profit goals. •Hired and inspired marketing professionals including designers, managers and support staff. •Selected and coordinated external vendors including printers, video/editing services, point-of-purchase display manufacturers, copywriters and graphic designers. •Interfaced with retailer and vendor partners in the design and manufacturing of visual merchandising point-of-purchase solutions. Business grew year over year and the service became a valuable offering to retailers such as Costco, Office Depot and Best Buy. •Coordinated workflow among sales, marketing and creative departments to ensure displays, print materials, web materials and other projects responsively met internal customer specifications. •Participated in a cross-functional team consisting of sales, merchandising, IT and web development that successfully redesigned the company’s B2B website. •Tracked and improved web traffic and sales using Google Analytics and SEO metadata. •Developed and managed creative and marketing for the PrideFC DVD series. These efforts included packaging, launch kits, consumer print/web advertising and social media.

    Creative Director: Navarre Corporation 1993 - 2006

    Trusted by senior management to oversee the creative needs of the business while providing agency-quality creative services to its vendors and retail partners. •Managed creative direction corporatewide, including branding, annual reports, internal and external sales collateral and communications. •Hired and trained print and web designers, growing the creative department to four designers to handle additional workflow while cutting creative costs. •Positioned creative services department as the agency of choice for external customers and suppliers. Designed a variety of in-store fliers and unique marketing communications tools for Adobe, Symantec, Best Buy and Eurpac, among others. •Managed all efforts of the department, including budget, scheduling, print buying, production and technical and creative direction.
